The world is focused on immunity right now. As we in South Africa approach winter, we need to focus even more on boosting our immune systems and staying healthy. We don’t want to mention all the usual vitamins and immune boosting foods that you already know about, because you have probably been inundated with this, so another option for improving your health is to increase your intake of Fermented and Probiotic Foods.

Around 70% to 80% of our immune system is linked to our gut microbiota and the best way to improve this is to consume a variety of vegan fermented foods like kimchi, sauerkraut, kombucha, tempeh, water kefir and miso. Vegan yoghurt (coconut, soy or cashew based) is also a good option, as they are fortified with live cultures to assist gut health.
